A classically trained violinist, I now perform mainly as a session musician – in the studio and on stage – at events, and with my jazz trio.
I began playing violin aged 7 – a few too many years ago to count now! I still remember the excitement of opening my rented violin case: the smell of the varnish, the rosin on the bow and the beauty of the instrument.
By the time I was big enough to need a full-size violin, my parents gifted me one made by a neighbour. He had taught himself to make violins, as he hadn’t been able to afford one for his own son. He finished his tenth and final instrument for me. I passed my Grade 8 with Distinction playing it.
At university, I used the inheritance money from my grandpa to buy a professional-standard violin. It took me through my Music Degree (First Class BA Hons, University of Southampton), a Diploma in Violin Performance (ABRSM) and on into the professional world.
Violin has always been very personal – partly because of the people supporting me along the way – but also because of the joy it brings in playing with, and for, other people.
I’ve toured in China with Kent Sinfonia, Germany and America with the Paul Dunton Orchestra, Italy and Spain, and all over the UK as an event soloist and session player.
Being a great player is important, but I also firmly believe good communication, organisation, reliability and a strong work ethic are vital in the music profession. I hope I offer these as a given – as well as having fun along the way!

“Jenny is delightful to work with in a recording studio situation. She is professional and enthusiastic and has constructive comment when required. She is a great violinist and has a beautiful voice and apart from that is much fun. I have enjoyed working with her for many years and hope that will continue.”
Diane Wilks, composer

I work with artists and composers to bring their musical ideas to life – from string lines and solos to full arrangements.
Although classically trained, I work across musical genres and adapt easily to a range of musical settings. My “go to” is playing from written music, but I’m equally comfortable transcribing ideas by ear, working from leadsheets, or improvising from chord charts.
This versatility has led to opportunities to record and perform for:
Many clients already have a clear musical vision, and I aim to reproduce that faithfully – suggesting violin-specific ideas where appropriate.
Others simply know they’d like violin added to their track, and that’s fine too!
I can improvise a part to complement your music or, for a supplementary fee, create and notate an arrangement in Sibelius.

In my opinion, ideal session violin playing complements the artist’s work, rather than distracts from it (just like a great film score). If you want to add texture to a new track, spice up an existing one or make a live performance “pop”, get in touch!

“We hired Jen for a networking event we hold every quarter and she was impeccable. Jen played and sang during our guest arrival and she created the most beautiful atmosphere to kick-start our evening. Highly recommend.”
Loch Associates
Elegant violin music with a modern touch. (And a sprinkle of Bridgerton, if you’re a fan of the Netflix show!)
Instrumental violin music creates the perfect ambience for events – it can fill a space beautifully without intruding on conversation. I love seeing guests’ reactions when they suddenly recognise a favourite pop song. The surprise flicker of recognition always brings a smile.
My repertoire blends classical elegance with contemporary style – from Bach and Mozart to Fleetwood Mac and Taylor Swift. Whether you’d like timeless favourites, songs from the musicals, or modern pop with a Bridgerton twist, I’ll tailor the setlist to suit your event perfectly.
Flexible, easy-going, and approachable, I aim to make the booking process as smooth as the performance itself. My priority is always to create the right atmosphere for your occasion.
Whether you’re planning an intimate dinner, a wedding, or a corporate (networking) reception, I’ll work with you to choose the music that best complements your event. I can adapt to your budget and space, performing either as a soloist or as part of a duo (two violins, violin and piano, or violin and guitar).
I use high-quality sound equipment suitable for both indoor and outdoor settings, and I hold full PAT certification and Public Liability Insurance.
Regular clients include:
The Grapevine Jazz Bars, Grey Lady Music Lounge, and Finchcocks.
I’ve also performed for Champneys, Boots, John Lewis, and Radisson Blu, at venues including The Dorchester Hotel, The RAC Club (Pall Mall), The Pheasantry (Chelsea), The British Museum, Leeds Castle… and even a woodland proposal!
