What a grey day. One for the sofa, a blanket, a cuppa and some music!
I’ve recently been finishing of plenty of half-started projects – and discovered this lovely folk song I never released “proper”!
So here it is, for you. It’s also available on all streaming platforms too.
Recorded with guitarist Steve McCormack possibly 10 years ago, (when I’d decided I wanted to record a folk album,) this is a gem of a Scottish folk song. Originally based on an 18th-century song “The Braes of Balquhidder” by Scottish poet Robert Tannahill, Francis McPeake popularised it with more modern words. And here’s my arrangement.
