Autumn is well and truly here and evenings out feel limited to fireworks night and trick-or-treating. Having just returned home from a sunny week in Crete, I’m acclimatising to the change in UK weather and certainly not in a rush for trips out in the damp chill!

One cosy beacon on the horizon, though, is my monthly music night – the Jazz Kitchen – in Tunbridge Wells’ first zero-waste café on Camden Road. The next scheduled event is on Friday 7th November, with doors from 6:30pm and music 7pm-9pm.

The venue is run by the effervescent Charlie Moore who lives and breathes her mission to reduce wood waste, protect the environment, bring together community and offer a “pay-it-forward” scheme to those who may struggle to treat themselves to a coffee. Charlie’s team will be offering Jazz Kitchen guests a special three-course set vegetarian menu and licensed bar for those who want to relax and take a night off from cooking.

With only 22 tickets available and a warm welcome from Charlie’s Angels, this really is the feel-good start to an autumnal weekend you (and I!) need. I love performing to smaller audiences – with the intimate atmosphere allowing for more personal exchange between musicians and audience.

On Friday 7th November, I’ll be joined by critically acclaimed jazz pianist John Harriman. We regularly perform together and I never tire of it. Hailed by Jazz UK as “Effervescent” and The Gig Guide as “Fine jazz…excellent piano….well worth seeing”, John is a joy to sing and play with. We’ll be performing a medley of well-known, easy listening jazz, blues and bossa nova to get you smiling – if not tapping your toes – for the weekend!

So, if you’re in search for some autumnal Tunbridge Wells hygge, have been thinking of trying out Charlie’s or are looking for a slightly different night out, now’s your chance. Get hold of your tickets here.
Hope to see you there!
