My favourite performances are the personal ones – a song or piece that really means something to the audience, a small group of people listening intently, an intimate venue. One where the exchange of emotion between listener and performer is tangible.
Here’s a recording from a recent performance at Finchcocks, Goudhurst. I am lucky enough to host residential courses there – listening to glorious piano playing, eating gorgeous food, drinking delicious wine and chatting all things music with fellow enthusiasts. Of an evening, I may also be heard entertaining course guests with a song or two in the main hall!
My accompanist here is the insanely talented pianist (organist, published author, teacher extraordinaire, the list goes on…) David Hall. Many thanks to Finchcocks for a magical evening.
