Well, I haven’t really seen the need for a blog like this for a couple of years! But, thankfully, I have a bit of time to sit back and reflect on what has been a joyfully busy year musically.
Without the barrier of masks, I’ve been able to get to know colleagues at a school I began teaching singing in over two years ago. We can now exchange smiles in the corridor and even have lunch together – rather than by ourselves in our individual teaching rooms!
Live music is also well and truly back in full flow. No more masked weddings with upto 30 seated people only!
It’s quite hard to choose a top ten, so here are some highlights of my year instead:
Recording session violin for Mike Wilton and Steffan James on their 2022 albums “It’s good to have you here” and “The Masquerade”.
Singing for Diane Wilks in her performance of “Just see me as I am” in the International Composers’ Festival 2022.
Performing with new ensembles, including A night at the Musicals with Ophelia and Madeleine Gordon – and jazz with John Harriman, James Sunney and Ben Armstrong.
Creating new connections, now performing regularly for the Waterfront, Hythe…
at Sankey’s Fishbar on the Pantiles…
…the Arts Portfolio at Melford House, Mayfield and salon concerts at Danny House, Hurstpierpoint.
Continuing singing at Eton College as part of their Lower Chapel Choir.
A fundraiser for Ukraine with Cafe Society.
Having the joy and priviledge of being accompanied by phenomenal pianists in my role as Programme Director and course host at Finchcocks. Here with Florian Mitrea…
…and here with David Hall.
Supporting Sophie Ellis Bextor with the Paul Dunton Orchestra at Chiswick Pub in the Park.
Judging the Twyford Prep School House Music Competition. What an outstanding bunch of young musicians they were!
Performing at Leeds Castle…
…and the Spa Hotel, Tunbridge Wells with Alexander Metcalfe.
Singing and playing with Chris Whitty in the wedding party at the Beacon, Tunbridge Wells… but best of all, playing my oldest childhood friend down the aisle on her very special day!
Thank you to all the venues, organisations, events organisers and individuals who have booked me to perform for them this year. Here’s to 2023!
